Asuncion, IP Agency.- As of Monday, August 12, 6 more toll stations will be added with electronic payment service, reaching 100% coverage of the points managed by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC). These will be added to the 10 toll stations throughout the country with this service system, within the process of modernization and implementation of electronic payment.
The new incorporations are made at the toll plazas of Río Verde (route PY03), Tacuara (PY08) and Guajaiví (PY10) in San Pedro; Major Autumn (PY07) in Italy; Fork (PY05) in Concepcion and Colorado Well (PY09) in Presidente Hayes.
They thus join the 10 pioneering posts that offered electronic payments via POS or QR code since December 2023 in Itá (PY01) and Ecovía in Central; Remanso (PY09), Héroes del Chaco in Presidente Hayes and Emboscada (PY03) in Cordillera; in addition to 25 de Diciembre (PY03) in San Pedro, Caapucú (PY01) in Paraguarí, Coronel Bogado (PY01); Trinidad (PY06) in Itapúa and Iruña (PY06) in Alto Paraná.
With this optional service, citizens can pay the transit fee electronically by bringing their debit, credit or QR card close to the POS, issuing a receipt with data such as the name of the stand, amount, date, time and serial number of the machine, providing a fast, secure and transparent service. This ticket serves as proof of payment.
Since its implementation to date, more than 270,000 card transactions have been recorded for the payment of tolls, which have been enabled progressively. The electronic payment system is an action that is carried out as part of the agreement that was finalized in November 2023, between the ministerial portfolio and the Infonet – Bancard Network.
The use of toll collection terminals at toll booths will allow for greater fluidity in collection and transit; it will also allow for fluidity in payment management and in the traceability of toll fee collections.
Added to this is the reduction in payment and cash search times, the reduction in cash withdrawal costs, the timely process of refunding funds for incorrect charges, flexibility to advance promotions by vehicle category with external entities (banks, cooperatives), a change in the image of the stations and greater transparency in accountability, reported the Ministry of Public Works.
