Electronic cigarettes: the National Committee against Smoking calls for a ban on flavors

The CNCT has published a three-year studywhere he concludes on the request for a ban on flavors other than tobacco for electronic cigarette or similar devices. It also concludes with a reinforced frame on this type of product. In its report, the CNCT highlights the extremely rapid evolution of the market, the appearance of new and ever more attractive productsespecially towards young people with an increasingly diverse range of tastes, without supervision (source 1).

Colourful, attractive and part of a recreational dimensionvarious products and flavors for this type of smoking completely ignore the potential addictive and harmful aspect that they may have. For the CNCT, this negligence “plays a role in the normalization of nicotine”. The numerous prize-givings also make it possible to limit the financial brake, addressing a population that does not yet necessarily earn a good living, independently. Another problem, the CNCT shows that the French law is not respected, in particular with regard to point-of-sale . Logically, it only authorizes the sale of these products in the form of small posters, not visible from outside the points of sale, which is not absolutely not the case. L’use of social networks is also singled out by the CNCT for making the promotion of these products, directly where young people are (source 2).
