That’s it: for the past few days, we have set foot in the summer period and everyone is trying, as best they can, to escape the first heat waves. On the side of Electronic Arts, we have a very particular technique to face all this: to try an acrobatics on the social networks and to take a monumental blow of air conditioning. The American publisher’s error of the day? Tackle single player games!

Electronic Arts seems to forget what makes it so successful
Apparently, it is quite possible to take care of editing very good solo games while incurring the wrath of players by drawing a joke that goes very badly on social networks. Not happy to have allowed hits such as Star Wars Jedi : Fallen Order (as well as its sequel in the coming months!) or even It Takes Two to see the light of day, Electronic Arts mightn’t help but tap once once more on this type of game, widely acclaimed by the public in recent years: just look at the sales figures of God of War, The Witcher 3, The Last of Us, NieR : Automata and even Elden Ringmore recently, to be convinced!
They’re a 10 but they only like playing single-player games

Unfortunately, when you are a Community Manager (CM), not everything you can post on social networks is unanimous. In this case, the attempt of Electronic Arts to amuse the gallery on Twitter ended in bitter failure. By pointing out the fact of liking “solo experiences” in a humorous message, it is a whole part of the community of players attached to these games who replied to the tweet from the American publisher. Stung to the quick, the latter did not go with dead hands and did not forget to recall the low quality past of the publisher concerning certain productions in its catalog.

One only has to observe the worrying number of “quoted tweets” to understand that the message has strongly reacted to the users of the platform, all sectors combined. Among all the answers that seek to give the American publisher their own coin, we find some fairly well-known figures from video games. such as Geoff Keighley, the iconic organizer and presenter of the Game Awards and Summer Game Fest ceremonies, the insider Tom Henderson who drops a little pike around Battlefield 2042as well as content creator Jacksepticeye who questions the usefulness of such a message on Twitter. Worse still, Vince Zampella mightn’t hide his dismay at this tweet: as a reminder, this is the man at the head of Respawn Entertainment (Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi : Survivor…)

The backlash hurts a lot and, of course, when you tackle single-player games, it’s better to be flawless on what you praise, namely multiplayer games. However, in this area, Electronic Arts has not always excelled and faced with these production accidents, players had no qualms regarding using it once morest the publisher: many of them, for example, responded by publishing the Metacritic pages of a handful of multiplayer games from EA’s catalog: Battlefield 2042, Anthem, Madden NFL 22 or Star Wars : Battlefront II. Supporting evidence, other users have highlighted the Steam rankings to highlight the critical receptions of single-player titles. With this message, EA thought to be noticed: it is successful.
