Electrified car spring starts with 44 electric cars in the new season

The circumstances might hardly be worse: Corona, lack of chips, war in Ukraine. And yet the team around President Michael Schmidt is confident that the 51st Linz Auto Spring will be a success. Austria’s oldest motor show opens on March 18th and 19th in the Linz Design Center.

Everything regarding e-mobility

The focus this time is on e-mobility. Of the 199 new cars on display on two levels, 44 are purely electric plus 18 are plug-in hybrids and 27 are hybrid models. “There is a great deal of interest in electric vehicles,” says Christoph Günther, a member of the board of directors of Auto Spring. “And also from private individuals.” After all, 50,000 PV systems in Upper Austria generate electricity. “These are the best prerequisites for operating an electric car.”

Hybrid technology mystery

The spokesman for the auto spring, Ernest Wipplinger, identified a need to catch up in terms of knowledge regarding e-mobility. “Who knows the difference between plug-in hybrid, hybrid and mild hybrid?” But the experts from the car dealers, Linz AG, Energie AG and the Linz wall box manufacturer Keba are not only able to explain this detail in a well-founded manner. The most important question is: “For whom is an electric car suitable – and for whom is it not!” says Ernest Wipplinger. Factual advice is needed here in order to avoid making the wrong decisions when buying a car.

Combustors outnumbered

Of course, the majority of the cars on display are still powered by combustion engines. And the offer is lavish and ranges from the Fiat Panda for 15,990 euros to the Porsche 911 for 235,000 euros. New cars from a total of 37 brands will be on display in the Design Center. Including the new manufacturer Ineos, presented by Autohaus Baschinger.

OÖN are giving away a Nissan Qashqai

In addition to the ÖAMTC and the ARBÖ, regular guests at Autofrühling are Club Mobil, which provides advice on all aspects of mobility for people with disabilities. And at the OÖN stand, a Nissan Qashqai e-Power will be raffled off.

51st Linz Auto Spring

Admission prices remain the same as last year: Adults 10 euros (reduced 8 euros), families (2 adults, children up to 15 years) 20 euros (reduced 16 euros), children (up to 15 years) 2 euros and disabled people 8 euros.
