The price of electricity delivery for the next day – known as Day-Ahead Trading – amounted to 245 euros per megawatt hour on Thursday on average. This sum remains high compared to last year, but is still far from the 400 to 500 euros of recent weeks.
The reasons for this decrease in prices, which will be at their lowest since mid-July, is simple: the next few days should be windy, with some sunshine, allowing greater availability of renewable energies.
In addition, on Friday September 16, the delivery of electricity between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. will return to zero euros for one megawatt hour. However, only consumers with an hourly contract with the Belgian electricity exchange EPEX SPOT will be able to take advantage of this free hour. These are mostly large companies.
