This month the electricity rates in the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) will rise once more, once once more impacting the economy of the families.
According to data from OsinergminAs of August 4, electricity prices are rising by 3.38% for industrial and commercial consumers, while for residential users, that is, households, the rate is rising by 2.2%.
With this increase, there are already eight consecutive months of increases in electricity ratesand even this time the highest rise so far this year would be recorded.
But why are electricity prices going up this month? The Osinergmin told the newspaper Gestión that this rate adjustment is due to a variation in macroeconomic indicators, particularly the exchange rate and inflation.
Only until the end of July is it known that the exchange rate rose by 2.48%, while the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) had an increase of 1.96% over the past month.
Only the increase in the price of the dollar represented 63% of the variation, while the IPM had a 36% influence on the new rates.
