China’s electricity generation rose 9.9 percent year on year in August to 824.8 billion kWh, according to data released by the State Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday.
August’s growth rate was 5.4 percentage points higher than the level recorded in July, according to NBS data.
Specifically, thermal power generation and wind power generation saw faster increases in August, up 14.8 percent and 28.2 percent year-on-year, respectively. Solar electricity production increased by 10.9% over one year.
Hydropower generation, however, was down 11% year-on-year in August, while nuclear power generation fell 0.6% year-on-year.
In the first eight months of the year, total power generation rose 2.5 percent year on year to 5.6 trillion kWh, the data showed.
