Hydro-Québec’s electrical circuit currently has 4,500 charging stations.
The Quebec government wants to add 16,000 by 2030, with the goal of reaching 2 million electric vehicles on our roads by then.
“The government’s targets are certainly optimistic. But we were aiming for 100,000 for 2020. We almost reached it. It was the pandemic that slowed down the achievement of this objective a little. But now, it’s outdated,” CAA-Quebec automotive expert Jesse Caron explained to TVA Nouvelles.
From 2025, the law in Quebec will force manufacturers to deliver 20% of zero-emission vehicles on the market. And from 2035, 100% of new vehicles sold must be electric everywhere in the country.
According to data from last February, 42% of all electric vehicles in Canada were registered in Quebec.
