More sustainable, company implements electric motorcycles in the property security service
Brazil has made progress in adopting more sustainable urban means of transport. According to a survey by the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave), the sale of electric motorcycles and scooters increased by 346% in 2022. In line with this trend, in 2022, SegurPro launched its fleet of electric motorcycles with 90 motorcycles to replace the combustion models that make rounds on the premises of customers in different sectors served by the company nationally.
Since 2022, SegurPro has been replacing its combustion motorcycles. Currently, 70% of the company’s own fleet is electric. The expectation is to completely replace it in 2023.
The electric motorcycle used by SegurPro already comes with an integrated GPS system and is designed for security guards who circulate, on average, 65 kilometers a day. Considering that each motorcycle travels approximately 2,000km/month, the entire contingent of 90 motorcycles will stop emitting 12 tons of CO₂/month or 144 tons of CO₂ in the year, which is equivalent to more than 1,200 trees saved per year, as a result of the implementation of the most sustainable fleet. The model is charged in conventional outlets, allowing the battery to be charged directly at the surveillance post.
For Fábio Reus, director of operations at SegurPro, the electric motorcycle makes the company’s operation more sustainable, including for the security guard who rides it. “It is undeniable that the environmental issue is the main gain, which becomes a positive attribute and recognized by our customers, considering that most companies are increasingly careful in choosing partners who have environmental responsibility in their production chain. However, we highlight the well-being that the fleet powered by non-combustion causes watchmen, as they are much quieter than conventional models, and that, in the medium and long term, makes all the difference”.
SegurPro’s customers immediately accepted the changes, which are part of the commitment to become more and more a sustainable and innovative company. GLP, a leading global developer and operator of logistics warehouses, data centers, renewable energy and related technologies, is one of SegurPro’s electric fleet customers. The company’s guards have been carrying out property security at the GLP facilities with four electric motorcycles since the beginning of this year, when they replaced the combustion models.
Sustainability
“Sustainability is at the heart of GLP’s business objectives. We seek to offer our customers technologies that enable the efficient consumption of water and energy and the conservation of natural resources. Having partners like SegurPro, with initiatives such as the electric fleet, aligned with our culture, is essential to strengthen our mission to build a more sustainable future”, says the Operations Director of GLP in Brazil, Rômulo Otoni.
The entire management of SegurPro’s electric motorcycle fleet, which operates anywhere in Brazil and with clients from different sectors, is carried out at its Intelligent Security Operation Center (iSOC), located in São Paulo, where the company also controls the performance of 18,000 security guards allocated to nearly 4,000 service delivery locations for 700 customers. The integration of qualified security professionals with the company’s cutting-edge technology reinforces SegurPro’s Hybrid Security concept, offering more personalized solutions that meet the specific needs of customers.
Clean mobility alternative electric bikes
The search for “clean” mobility alternatives has always been one of SegurPro’s priorities. In addition to the reduction in CO₂ emissions, the new fleet is economically viable, considering that the value of a new electric motorcycle is relatively close to the value of a combustion motorcycle.
This is yet another initiative that forms part of the Prosegur Group’s Sustainability Master Plan worldwide. The strategy demonstrates the company’s commitment to the transformation process towards a sustainable global society, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company has already integrated all 17 SDGs into its business and management strategy, on which it works intensively on 10, which are those in which the Group can, in fact, make a difference. The Sustainability Master Plan is structured in four main areas of action: Ethics, Transparency and Governance; People; Occupational Safety and the Environment. In total, there are 63 specific initiatives for which the Group’s companies have defined a set of detailed indicators that make it possible to measure their impact and evolution.
