The US automaker Ford confirmed that he will participate in another edition of the Pikes Peak International Ramp with an unusual vehicle. The model chosen by the brand to participate in the competition is the E-Transit electric van.
However, the car that will participate in the 2023 edition of Pikes Peak has practically nothing in common with the conventional version and has around 1400 hp of power. The race is scheduled to take place next Sunday (25).
Ford Performance’s participation in the 101st edition of the Pikes Peak International Ramp will serve to showcase the innovative design of this demo unit, its technologies and features that optimize its performance, on the road.
Pilot Romain Dumas will command the SuperVan 4.2 and will participate for the eighth time in the event. Ford looks forward to drawing on its vast experience to demonstrate its vehicle. The bodywork is made of carbon fiber panels on a tubular frame, so it doesn’t look like the conventional Transit.
Initially, Ford showed the SuperVan 4 with four engines that, together, offer regarding 2,000 hp of power and a 0 to 100 km/h in regarding 2 seconds. The new version has one less engine and generates 1,400 hp. The batteries are lithium polymer.
The company claimed that the new configuration made the chassis much lighter and the power-to-weight ratio was improved considerably. The car also features forged magnesium alloy wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes.
