One in 10 new cars sold is electric, a booming market. To allow these motorists to cross France, motorway rest areas are equipped with terminals. They can thus recharge their batteries, and no longer fear a breakdown. Meeting at the Porte de Corrèze rest area, on the A20 motorway.

Twenty minutes of recharging, and here we go once more! The electric vehicle is making its way among the means of transport, so on the journey, you have to adapt.

This Dutch couple is traveling by electric car from the Netherlands to the Dordogne. A journey punctuated with stops to recharge the batteries of the car. Lived without constraint.

“Every two hours we take a break, we charge our car, we go for a coffee and then we continue,” explains Ellen Mogendorff, while her companion is delighted with the equipment in electrical terminals in France “I am very satisfied with the facilities and the possibilities you have here for electric cars, it is sublime, even better than in Germany”, says Jan Van Der Staay. Twenty minutes of charging and presto! “I can drive 405 kilometres, it’s simple!” he adds delighted.

At the “Porte de Corrèze” area, eight fast charging stations were installed at the beginning of June. And they fill up. Even if the prices are higher than a recharge at home, this Norman tourist believes he can find his way around “JI think it’s regarding three times cheaper than gasoline fuel, around thirty euros for a full tank,” he observes.

Other installations exist, less powerful, lasting three to four hours, like this innkeeper who took the initiative to install one. ” It’s practical when you sleep, or a partial recharge at noon for example when you eat at the restaurant ” testifies Philippe Frugier, manager of the Auberge Dupuytren.

In May, the 100,000 milestone was crossed in France. The Energy Transition Law provides for seven million by 2030.
