Electric bike: BH launches its new in-house motor

Developed in-house by the brand, the 2EXMAGII engine is inaugurated on board the new BH Core Cross.

BH continues to expand its range of electrically assisted bicycles. After the presentation a few weeks ago of the Core Carbon, its electric road bikethe Spanish manufacturer launches the new BH Core Cross (not to be confused with the Cross Core the Yamaha), and urban electric bike equipped with unprecedented engine technology. First embarked on mountain bikes, the BH 2EXMAG is for the first time offered on an urban model. Characterized by its compact size, it weighs only 2.1 kilos and develops up to 65 Nm of torque.

In terms of optimizations, the new generation of the BH engine incorporates a new torque sensor. The manufacturer also indicates that it has eliminated friction to make pedaling smoother when the speed exceeds 25 km/h or when the assistance is deactivated.

gain independence

For BH, the development of this in-house engine is strategic. In addition to no longer being dependent on external suppliers such as Shimano or Bosch, it is for the manufacturer to regain control of a key component of electric bicycles.

On the battery side, the brand always seems to resort to external sourcing. Offering 540 Wh of capacity, the battery of the BH Core Cross announces up to 130 kilometers of autonomy on a single charge. The set is controlled by a small X-Remote digital screen which allows you to view data relating to the state of charge of the battery, the level of assistance, the speed and the distance traveled.

Mounted on 28-inch wheels, the BH Core Cross features a Shimano Deore 10-speed derailleur and disc brakes front and rear. Excluding any ecological bonus, it is announced at a price of around €3,000.
