Elections were not conducted according to the party constitution, Tehreek-e-Insaaf was stripped of its bat symbol

The Election Commission of Pakistan declared PTI’s intra-party elections unconstitutional and withdrew the election symbol of ‘bat’. The Election Commission of Pakistan has given a safe decision, in which it has been said that the PTI did not conduct its elections according to the party rules.

In the decision issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan, it is stated that a five-member bench headed by the Chief Election Commissioner heard the petitions filed against the PTI intra-party elections. The five-member bench declared the PTI intra-party election null and void.

The judgment said that PTI failed to conduct intra-party elections, on the basis of which PTI is withdrawing its electoral symbol and will no longer receive the bat symbol.

It should be noted that a day ago, the Peshawar High Court had directed the Election Commission of Pakistan to give a decision on the petitions filed regarding PTI intra-party elections by December 22.

On December 18, the Election Commission had reserved its decision on the petition to declare the PTI intra-party elections null and void.

PTI’s lawyer Ali Zafar pleaded for the dismissal of all the petitions saying that the constitution leaves it up to the party to decide how to conduct the elections, as per the decision of the Election Commission, those who are not members of the party should follow the decision of the party. Can’t challenge, there are serious consequences for not giving election marks, there is a question on the registration of the political party.

It should be noted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had held intra-party elections on December 3 on the instructions of the Election Commission, in which Barrister Gohar was elected unopposed as the chairman while Umar Ayub was elected as the general secretary of the party.

Akbar S. Babar, founder member of PTI, approached the Election Commission against the intra-party elections. Apart from this, two more petitions were also filed regarding the intra-party elections, in which the Election Commission asked the Election Commission to declare the intra-party elections null and void. was requested.
