Elections in Austria, the last weapon for the left is the danger of Nazism –

Roberto Arditti

Now let’s imagine the scene with the roles reversed. A left-wing party wins elections in any European country with 29.6%, trailing the outgoing government party by three points. But immediately afterwards begins a round of political maneuvers aimed at forming a majority in Parliament among all the losing subjects, thus excluding the winning one. The conscience of the nation would rise, the furious complaints of the intellectual community would rise, all the best of civil society would be mobilized to counter the “rape” perpetrated on democracy. However, since the right-wing FPÖ party is winning in Austria, the maneuver becomes desirable, indeed right, indeed necessary.

Right avalanche in Austria: We are making history, hunt for alliances

Because we need to isolate that racist, or rather nostalgic, or rather, to put it bluntly, Nazi party. Now 91 years and more have passed since January 30, 1933 when Adolf Hitler, who was born in Austria, assumed the role of Chancellor. And 79 have passed since the Third Reich collapsed, under the weight of the monstrosities committed, the horrors perpetrated, the war rightly lost. We are in another century, we are in another world. But on the left we prefer to avoid looking at reality, preferring to paint the opponent as a monster.

In Austria the far right, leader Fpoe, wins:

Let’s be clear, not everything on the European right is in order. But if we want to be honest, not even on the left things are all right, because too many in those parts express pro-Palestinian sentiments that border on anti-Semitism or regurgitations against the West which at best are pure intelligence with the enemy. So let’s be clear: the central point is European and national policies on immigration. The change of direction that right-wing political forces are calling for is unpopular on the left and in much of the globalist financial community. But since discussing the merits of this issue is tiring, terribly tiring, we prefer to brand our opponent as a Nazi-fascist rather than face him on the field of proposals. Is everything right in Herbert Kickl’s (the leader of the Austrian right) election campaign? No, and there are objectionable nostalgic excesses. But the idea of governing “everyone against the winner” is a political monster with a short-sighted and ramshackle perspective. Let the moderates have the courage to choose the alliance on the right, which is now a solid force throughout Europe. It serves the right and serves good politics, which needs to measure itself with the difficult art of governing. We live in times that require courageous choices, Israel teaches this.
