The registration of a deceased radical militant as a candidate for substitute councilor of Together for Change caused a scandal in Salsipuedes.
On Saturday night, when the list of candidates for the municipal elections on June 25 entered the local Electoral Board, the members of the court detected that the name of Silvia Ramos appeared, a neighbor whose death last February shocked that locality of Sierras Chicas.
The following Monday, Justice of the Peace Carlos Cingolani appeared before the Civil Registry to request the report corresponding to the DNI of Silvia Ramos, which appeared on the payroll. A few minutes later they confirmed what he already knew: her neighbor, a well-known radical militant and who had been a candidate in previous elections, was deceased.
The Justice of the Peace told The voice that the documentation presented by Juntos por el Cambio included the “acceptance of office” with the supposed signature of the woman, which was verified to be forged, and the photocopy of the no longer existing DNI, which surely the representatives of the radicalismo had from previous elections. The radicalismo had taken the documentation of Robles, confirmed the Justice of the Peace.
“An electoral crime was not constituted because the irregularity was resolved by the Electoral Board and the list was not proclaimed,” Cingolani understands. He does not get involved in other crimes for the falsification of public documents. The alleged perpetrators of the inclusion of a deceased on the list would be the representative of the coalition, César Calvo, and the candidate for mayor, Miguel Zabala.
Given this, the Electoral Board modified the list of Together for Change, which is why a candidate is missing: the last line appears empty in the act of proclamation of the candidacies.
The scandal in Salsipuedes “escalated” because at dawn on Saturday, following the presentation of the lists, Together for Change published it on Facebook. There several neighbors noticed the inclusion of Robles. In parallel, Justice of the Peace Cingolani realized the same thing. “With great euphoria, (the candidates of Together for Change) published the list presented, and there the name of this deceased neighbor jumped out. If they had not done so, the Electoral Board would have corrected the error and it was left there,” said the Justice of the Peace.
