The Indonesian Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) said that the Acting Chairman of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) Mochammad Afifuddin had coordinated with it, especially during the data matching and research (coklit) period for voters for the 2024 Regional Elections.

“In the near future, they (KPU RI) will come to Bawaslu,” said the Coordinator of the Bawaslu RI Violation Handling and Data and Information Division, Puadi, in the Kebon Jeruk area, Jakarta, Friday (5/7).

Furthermore, Puadi explained that the meeting would later coordinate the ongoing stages of the 2024 Pilkada.

“Therefore, it is necessary to convey what things are the focus of Bawaslu that must be coordinated, considering the existing regulations, we are still using Law Number 10 of 2016 (regarding Regional Elections),” he said.

He explained that coordination is indeed necessary because Bawaslu is also interested in ensuring that all Indonesian citizens who have constitutional rights can be registered as voters.

“So, later there will be several things resulting from the vulnerability mapping that will be submitted to the KPU so that it can be followed up,” he said.

Previously, the KPU RI decided to appoint KPU RI Member Mochammad Afifuddin as Acting Chairman of the KPU RI to replace Hasyim Asy’ari who was given a dismissal sanction by the DKPP.

The decision was based on the results of a closed plenary meeting held by KPU RI members at the KPU RI Office, Jakarta, Thursday (4/7).

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP) imposed a permanent dismissal sanction on Hasyim Asy’ari from the position of Chairman and Member of the Indonesian KPU in relation to an immoral case.

“Imposing a permanent dismissal sanction on the defendant Hasyim Asy’ari as chairman and member of the Indonesian General Election Commission, effective from the time this verdict is read,” said the Chairman of the Indonesian DKPP Heddy Lugito in the verdict reading session at the Indonesian DKPP Office.

In addition, the DKPP RI granted the complainant’s complaint in its entirety, and asked President Joko Widodo to replace Hasyim within 7 days since the verdict was read. Finally, the DKPP RI asked Bawaslu RI to supervise the implementation of the verdict. (Z-8)
