Representative Michel Daher considered that “the issue of the presidency of the republic has become settled in favor of the Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun.”

He called on the representatives to “go to the House of Representatives and elect a President of the Republic today before tomorrow,” stressing that “matters and conditions can no longer tolerate more emptiness and delay.”

Daher indicated, in a statement to Al-Anbaa, that “there is a settlement being worked on in the region, and it may take us immediately to electing the President of the Republic, but I hope that the settlement will be completed, while we stand on our feet, and not be destructive.” It is likely that the settlement will be Arab. Regional, and it seems that it was launched with the aim of calming the region, with the hope of electing the army commander as president of the republic.”

Regarding talk of a trade-off between implementing International Resolution 1701 in exchange for the release of the presidency, Daher considered that “this talk is far from the truth.”

He believed that “Israel wants to implement Resolution 1701 without any trade-offs.”

Daher also pointed out that “what protects Lebanon from an Israeli war is the implementation of International Resolution No. 1701, and not giving Israel any excuse to launch attacks against Lebanon.”

He added, “Lebanon has paid an expensive tax for the Palestinian cause, so we cannot open a war against Lebanon and other countries in a state of calm on the borders. We, as the Lebanese people, can no longer tolerate more wars and crises.”

In response to a question about fears of an Israeli war on Lebanon, Daher said, “The enemy’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is in trouble, and he is in a dilemma. He believes that the battle in Lebanon may save him, so we hope not to give him the excuse, especially since Israel has departed from the rules of engagement through… Expanding its attacks, the latest of which was the assassination of a Hamas leader in the southern suburbs, in addition to daily bombing and assassinations in southern Lebanese villages.

Daher continued, “Yes, Israel wants to drag Lebanon into war, and we, in return, must not give it any justification. Let us implement Resolution 1701 and address the 13 controversial points. Otherwise, our situation will be very difficult. Israel is trying to benefit from international support to carry out aggressive actions against Lebanon, without caring.” “In accordance with international conventions and laws, at a time when Lebanon is living in difficult circumstances.”

He concluded: “Therefore, we must not give them any excuse to wage war. We are living in a tragedy, and the time is not for war now.”
