Election of judges by popular vote, with trusts from the PJF

MEXICO CITY.- The election of judges by popular vote would be financed with resources from the 13 trusts of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF), points out the opinion of the reform proposed by the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

Although at the end of 2023 a definitive suspension was granted to the extinction of the 13 trusts, which represent an amount of 15 billion pesos.

They consider that the necessary funds will come from the cancelled trusts, and that they would have been returned to the Treasury of the Federation.

On the first Sunday in June 2025, the extraordinary election will be held to elect by popular vote all the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN),
