COLIMA, Col. (apro).- An elderly man died while sitting in the waiting room of the Emergency area of ​​the General Hospital of Zone number 1, of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), in the municipality from Villa de Álvarez.

The photo of the body completely covered with a sheet, semi-reclining on one of the local chairs and protected by a perimeter tape, circulated through social networks and generated a bitter controversy among Internet users regarding the quality of health services in the country.

For its part, the IMSS issued information card 0524/2023, in which it confirmed the event, but stated that the deceased man was a relative of a beneficiary, whom he only accompanied to receive medical attention and was awaiting his departure. so he had not come as a patient.

According to the health institution, the events occurred around 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday the 13th, when the medical staff was informed of the situation.

Through the card, it was reported that following the older adult was examined by one of the doctors in the Emergency Department, he realized that he no longer had vital signs, so he immediately notified the Public Ministry.

Social Security indicated that it will collaborate with the corresponding legal bodies to determine the causes of death.
