Last Wednesday, the Posthof, which is normally known primarily for live bands, once once more presented itself with club sounds in a gene-flexible manner. With his performance, Elderbrook brought an authentic club atmosphere to the Posthof. He was supported by Ross Quinn.
Ross Quinn
Ross Quinn moves adeptly between genres like house, R&B and electronic pop. Like Elderbrook, he combines DJ performance with live performance. Especially when you move in these genres, the party mood of the audience is more related to the time of day, and the fact that the show started at half past seven in the evening didn’t really work that well for the musician from Great Britain. He started his set with an optimistically half-empty hall, while the guests slowly gathered in the foyer and bar area, but by the end of his set the room was already well filled. There was something more concert-like regarding Ross Quinn’s performance as he thanked the audience following almost every song.
Elderbrook
Even with Elderbrook, the mood in the hall was still, how should I put it, in the process of being created. It seemed a bit as if there were uncertain expectations in the air, with the audience still wanting to convince themselves that Elderbrook can take the mood to the extreme. The audience was restless in the truest sense of the word – following the concert, one attendee wrote a comment pointing out that cafes exist and anyone wanting to gossip at a concert is in the wrong place. I can only agree.
Over time, however, the talking changed to dancing, and the mood found its way into the hall with a few latecomers. The light show greatly contributed to the atmosphere and created an impressive visual backdrop. The changing colors and effects enhanced the musical highlights and created a captivating stage show. Overall, the Elderbrook show at the Posthof was an exciting experience that offered a successful mix of club feeling and live performance, and was a good example of how the club genre can also find the right atmosphere in traditional concert halls like the Posthof can.
