Yesterday, the Klobrille Twitter account dropped a little bomb: what if games not included in the catalog of the Xbox Game Pass became playable via the Xbox Cloud Gaming ? In any case, this is what a series of screenshots from the official Xbox site suggested. But that wouldn’t be relevant…
Bug or strategy?
If you were browsing the pages of the official Xbox site, then perhaps you came across mentions that some major titles like Call of Duty : Vanguard, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or the acclaim Elden Ring would be playable via the cloud. After all, no wonder: free-to-play Fortnite had received the same treatment a few months earlier.
On his Twitter account, Klobrille had relayed screenshots showing that it would soon be possible to do the same for these major titles, provided that they were first owned and subscribed to at the Ultimate level of the subscription Xbox Game Pass. A Microsoft spokesperson immediately reacted to our colleagues at Eurogamer to shower the hopes :
We are aware of a bug that incorrectly displayed some titles available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. We deployed a fix and it is now updated.
The explanation is succinct and not very detailed, but verifiable: the link redirecting to the game has been updated and no longer directs to the previous day’s page. Inevitably, and without falling into hasty speculation, such a bug seems crude for a company such as Microsoft. However, it remains plausible. While some exclusive information are expected at the next Gamescom, can we hope to see this feature back on the front of the stage?
