The President of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME), Driss El Yazami called, on Saturday in Marrakech, to accept the dual membership of Moroccans in the world, which constitutes a wealth for their host countries and that of origin.
“We must learn to accept and manage this dual membership of Moroccans around the world, which constitutes a wealth for the host country and the country of origin, and in no way a problem”, underlined Driss El Yazami, on the sidelines of a gala evening organized as part of the 4th edition of the Moroccan World Trophies (TMM).
“We have to adapt to the transformations experienced by Moroccans around the world. These Moroccans, especially those born there, belong to two societies: their host countries and their country of origin, Morocco.he explained.
In this sense, he insisted on the need to “be attentive and listen to the expectations of these Moroccans of the World, but also to change the perceptions and images that we have of this community to strengthen our partnership”.
Returning to the Moroccan World Trophies award ceremony, Driss El Yazami, president of the Jury for this edition, said he was “very happy” and “very proud” to participate in this annual meeting, which “confirms the transformations that know the Moroccans of the World, in particular the elevation of their socio-cultural level with the emergence of skills in all areas”.
“We honored Moroccan men and women in the fields of ‘art and culture’, ‘sport’, ‘politics’, ‘business’, ‘scientific research’ and ‘civil society’. They are women and men who honor us, who are at the service of their country of residence and at the service of Morocco, while being determined to contribute to its development.he said.
In this sense, he hailed the contribution of these Moroccans from the diaspora in the process of socio-economic development that the Kingdom is experiencing. “We have seen in recent years several indicators of this contribution, particularly in the preparation of the report on the New Development Model (NMD). Their contribution was visible”he welcomed, adding that the report itself has “opened ways to strengthen this contribution of Moroccans around the world to the development of Morocco”.
With regard to MREs, he made a point of indicating that this event is an opportunity to set up a network of MREs, in order to facilitate exchanges between them, to establish and consolidate links with the country of origin, and be able to identify each other’s expectations, with a view to creating joint projects.
As part of this new edition of the TMM, post-Covid-19, six Trophies were awarded to Mounir Satouri (environmental MEP) in the “Politics” category, to Mohamed El Bachiri (co-author of the book “A jihad of the ‘amour”) in the “Civil Society” category, to Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (choreographer, opera director, dancer, actor, set designer and composer) in the “Art and Culture” category, and to Jalil Benabdellah (head of SD Tech +fine micro-powders+) in the “Company” category. Trophies were also awarded to Mrs. Samira Fafi (PhD graduate in specialized pharmacy/medical biology and a PhD in science from the University of Grenoble) in the “Scientific Research” category, and to the young prodigy Amira Tahri, five times kickboxing world champion, in the “Sport” category.
