El Vigía: Bridge over the Onia River shows significant progress

The work to complete the installation of the Bridge over the Onia River, in El VigíaAlberto Adriani municipality, in the state of Mérida, which communicates with the state of Táchira, The work is progressing with three teams of workers who work three shifts in order to complete the work as soon as possible.

In a note sent by the Governor’s Office, the Governor of Mérida, Jehyson Guzmán, reported that the works were 80% complete, which would allow them to meet the deadline established for their completion, as ordered by Nicolás Aduro during his last visit to the entity, when referring to the Onia Bridge and the paving of the road to Guaruríes.

This correspondent went to the site last Saturday, June 29, to obtain updated information and our own graphics, and was cordially received by engineer Jesús Medina, responsible for the work, who explained that the only spokesperson authorized to make statements about the work is Governor Guzmán, requesting at the same time not to take photographs or videos. However, It was found that the bridge has two channels and that its railings have significant reinforcement in the center, which differentiates it from the war bridge installed in Guaruríes.

According to recent information provided by Governor Jehyson Guzmán to local media, the bridge is 60 meters long and the height of the iron railings reaches 7 meters at its highest point.

The governor also explained that the teams are working on several work fronts: one located on the bank of the river that goes to Táchira, where they have already built 7 piles and are currently working on a lateral wall and preparatory compaction for asphalt. A second work front is conditioning the three terraces that will provide security to the area, and the third front is working on the assembly of the bridge. In addition, the conditioning for the civil works must be carried out, which includes signage curbs, asphalting of the bridge and its accesses, speed bumps, ensuring that the work “is progressing at a good pace.”
