El Salvador reduced fiscal deficit during 2022 2024-02-16 04:13:49

The former president of the Central Reserve Bank (BCR), Mauricio Choussy, highlighted the tax collection figures achieved in El Salvador during 2022, ensuring that the fiscal deficit decreased and that collection increased without the need to modify taxes.

“The fiscal deficit last year fell almost 60%, largely because revenue was increased, the Government managed to increase revenue without increasing taxes,” highlighted the former head.

El Salvador is a Latin American leader in tax collection. It should be noted that, during 2022, the increase in income was more than $1.8 billion in collection, thanks to the work of the Ministry of Finance. The institution is in charge of compliance with measures such as the Anti-Evasion Plan, in addition to tax and fiscal collections.
