El Salvador promotes trade in the Central American region 2024-02-13 19:32:36

To generate competitiveness between countries and contribute to economic growth, the Government of El Salvador continues to work on measures and regulations that contribute to facilitating and strengthening trade between Central American nations.

«We have managed, before the end of last year, to approve a national strategy for facilitating regional trade, which allows us to be more competitive, more attractive to investment and attract more jobs. At the local level, we reached the goal of 120 measures in terms of trade facilitation that we have achieved since the beginning of our administration,” highlighted the Minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, on the subject.

Some of these strategies are: the advance declaration of goods and the integration of the first border point with Honduras and Guatemala, which has facilitated the transit of products in the region. Hayem added regarding integration with neighboring countries: “We have a very ambitious roadmap so that this year we can achieve 90% of our integration at six border points with Honduras and Guatemala, where officials from both countries go to the border of El Salvador to be able to provide these services.
