“El Salvador has a great enemy, the poverty and misery of the people, 2 thirds of the Salvadoran population have truly terrible economic conditions” 2024-03-16 08:13:35

This Tuesday, in the Encuentro interview with Julio Villagrán, the Founder of the “San Salvador, Another City is Possible” Movement, Andrés Espinoza, mentioned that El Salvador has great enemies: Poverty and misery and that these cannot be defeated by absence of technical assessment to execute the new territorial organization.

“El Salvador has a great enemy, the poverty and misery of the people, 2 thirds of the Salvadoran population have truly terrible economic conditions. I am unfortunately afraid that this new territorial organization does not respond to a technical assessment, it responds to other types of assessments that are probably political.”analyzed Andrés Espinoza.

For Espinoza, changes in a democratic society come from the bottom up and he emphasized that those who wait for change to come from the top down can feel calm and wait a long time, since he considers that this is a very difficult process.

“Whoever is waiting for the changes to come from the top down, then sit calmly and wait because you are going to have a difficult time, the changes in the country have to come from the bottom up.”

In addition, he sent a message to the elected mayors that they will face a new challenge, “to complex governance with problems multiplied by 5”is that they must govern society correctly and honestly.

“What are the mayors going to face? First, a totally new scenario and problems multiplied by 5, there is only one way to vindicate themselves, do things well and not steal”.
