In a decision aimed at increasing control and transparency in the prepaid healthcare industry, Health Services Supervisory Authority (SSS)Through Resolution No. 4309/2024, it was decided to cancel the provisional registration of 53 entities in the National Registry of Entities for Prepaid Medicines (RNEMP).
The measure was taken following the discovery of repeated non-compliance in the submission of documents required by current regulations.
The resolution was made pursuant to Law No. 26,682, which regulates Prepaid health care entities, establishing requirements such as balance sheet presentations, sworn statements, coverage plan classifications, and updates of benefit and accounting information.
These regulations are intended to guarantee the solvency, quality and transparency of services provided by companies in the sector.
Lower prepaid pharmaceutical companies: impact of this measure
Since the promulgation of Resolution 1950/2021, strict protocols have been established regarding the classification of health services that registered entities must adhere to. However, despite multiple notifications through the Official Gazette of the Argentine Republic and the Digital Platform for Remote Procedures (TAD), “a large number of entities” have failed to comply with these requirements.
Companies that lost their registration include well-known companies in the industry, such as Magna Salud SRL, OMSA Prosal SA, Emergency Medical Services Santa María SA and Círculo Médico de Mayo 25 (SAMI 25 de Mayo). According to the SSS, the full list includes 53 entities that did not correct the violations within the prescribed period, which resulted in their eventual exclusion from the register.
These withdrawals will not only mean a cessation of activities under the prepaid medicines system, but will also affect users who rely on these services. The authorities urge members of these entities to seek alternatives within the legal framework.
Furthermore, this measure highlights the need for continuous and strict monitoring of companies.Avoid breaches that could harm users and the entire system.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the affected companies. However, SSS will continue to take the necessary administrative procedures to effectively comply with this resolutionincluding eliminating registration numbers from official records.
On the other hand, users affected by these cancellations can seek help through the agency’s official channels to evaluate their options. Available in health insurance.

**Interview with Dr. Laura Gómez, Health Policy Expert**
**Interviewer**: Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Gómez. The recent decision by the Health Services Supervisory Authority to cancel the provisional registrations of 53 entities in the National Registry of Entities for Prepaid Medicines has certainly made waves. What can you tell us about the implications of this resolution?
**Dr. Gómez**: Thank you for having me. This decision underscores the need for increased transparency and compliance within the prepaid healthcare sector. Many of these entities, including well-known names like Magna Salud and OMSA Prosal, repeatedly failed to meet documentation requirements and regulatory standards set under Law No. 26,682. The removal of their registrations will affect their operations significantly, and it’s essential for consumers to explore alternative health insurance options to ensure continuity of care.
**Interviewer**: The resolution highlights a history of non-compliance. What specific requirements were these entities failing to meet?
**Dr. Gómez**: The law mandates several key obligations, including the submission of accurate balance sheets, sworn statements, and up-to-date information regarding benefit coverage and accounting practices. Essentially, these measures are designed to ensure that prepaid healthcare providers maintain financial health and can deliver quality services to their members. Non-compliance not only jeopardizes the trust in these organizations but also risks users’ access to necessary healthcare services.
**Interviewer**: With the cancellation of these registrations, what immediate actions should current members of the affected entities take?
**Dr. Gómez**: It’s crucial for members to contact the Health Services Supervisory Authority for guidance on their next steps. The agency has set up channels to assist users in navigating this transition, which may include helping them find alternative healthcare coverage. It’s important to act quickly to avoid gaps in their healthcare provision.
**Interviewer**: What do you think this means for the future of the prepaid healthcare industry in Argentina?
**Dr. Gómez**: This action demonstrates that regulatory bodies are taking their oversight responsibilities seriously, which can ultimately be beneficial for the industry. By enforcing strict compliance measures, they can bolster consumer trust and ensure that those companies adhering to the law are the ones succeeding in the marketplace. However, ongoing monitoring will be crucial to prevent future breaches and to protect users in this vital sector.
