“El Flaco Fredy”, leader of the dissidents, among the 23 killed in Arauca

Defense Minister Diego Molano confirmed this Monday the identification of 15 of the 23 people killed following the confrontations between the dissidents of the Farc and the Eln in the municipalities of Fortul, Saravena, Tame and Arauquita in the department of Arauca.

Molano stated that one of those identified is alias “El Flaco Fredy”, leader of the FARC dissidents, who had two arrest warrants, one for extortion and kidnapping and the other for illegal arms trafficking.

In addition, of the 15 identified, four are of Venezuelan nationality, two of them had a record of illegally carrying weapons, according to preliminary information from the authorities.

The head of the Defense portfolio also indicated that the identification process continues to begin the prosecution of those responsible. Likewise, he said that “Operations continue to dismantle the criminal structures that committed these murders.”

The announcement came at the closing of the security council held in the department capital Arauca. There, Molano also assured that the confrontations “are due to an event that happened in a sector known as Los Cañitos in La Victoria, Apure state in Venezuela and that later had repercussions in different townships ”of Arauca.
