Through his official Twitter account, the author of the light novels Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Rifujin na Magonote, revealed that he intends to write a new story set eighty years after the end of the original story, although he pointed out that it is not a “sequel” as such. The message in question wrote:
- «It would be the story of “Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation” eighty years after the end. It will depend on how much time passes until the end of the anime adaptation and the serialization of the light novels “Orc Eiyuu Monogatari: Sontaku Retsuden”, maybe 3-8 years from now? Also, I do not intend to write this story as a sequel to “Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation”».
Rifujin na Magonote began publishing the light novels with illustrations by Sirotaka in January 2014 through the publishing imprint MF Books of Kadokawa. The manga adaptation by Yuka Fujikawa has been published since May 2014. The work inspired a twenty-three-episode anime adaptation produced by Studio Bindunder the direction and scripts written by Manabu Okamoto. A second season is in production.

As Rudeus’s second chance at life begins, he tries to make the most of his new chance as he conquers his traumatic past.
