On the official site for the anime adaptation of the light novels written by Shu and illustrated by Yoshinori Shizuma, Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha (The Misfit of Demon King Academy), it was announced that the issuance of the second season has been suspended indefinitely following the broadcast of today’s episode (the sixth).
According to the statement, the suspension responds to production problems derived from the COVID-19 pandemic, so in Japan the broadcast of the series will be restarted from next February 18 (when the seventh episode was going to be broadcast). Once this re-broadcast in Japan ends, the production hopes to be able to report when this second season will resume.
It should be noted that This series joins the long list of Aniplex projects that are suspended this season and that, “by coincidence” suffered production problems due to COVID-19. In the opinion of the fans, the pandemic is only a perfect excuse to cover up production schedules impossible to meet by the production company towards its studios, but also the increasing dependence of the anime industry on workers in China.
It should be remembered that this second season will last for two arcs (two quarters) that will be issued separately, and that Yuuichiro Umehara is the new voice of the protagonist Voldigoad Yearsfollowing the immediate expulsion of Tatsuhisa Suzuki following starring in an infidelity scandal.
For its part, the first season premiered during the season of Summer-2020 (July-September) in Japan and had a total of thirteen episodes, while Crunchyroll is in charge of its distribution in the West. Shu began publishing the novels on the independent service Shousetsuka ni Narou in April 2017.

Sinopsis de Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha
In the distant past, a war between humans and demons caused widespread chaos and bloodshed. To end this seemingly endless conflict, the Demon King Anos Voldigoad willingly sacrificed his life, hoping to be reborn in a peaceful future. In preparation for the king’s return from him, the demon race created the Demon King Academy, an elite institution tasked with determining Anos’s identity when he awakens. He is reincarnated two millennia later, but to his surprise, he soon discovers that the level of magic in the world has drastically decreased during his absence.
Also, when he enrolls in the academy to claim his rightful title, he discovers that the demons remember him differently. His personality, his facts and even his legacy are falsified, masked under the name of an impostor. This “lack” of common knowledge makes him the outlier of the academy, a misfit never before seen in history. Despite these drawbacks, Anos is unfazed. As he sets out to uncover those who alter his glorious past, he takes it upon himself to make his descendants recognize that his ruler has finally returned.
