El anime de Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Será reiniciado — Kudasai

On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by The one he wanted, Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun (Toilet-bound Hanako-kun), it was announced that the adaptation project “will be restarted”. The site shared a special video to celebrate this announcement, accompanied by a new promotional image, but it did not indicate what the production means by “reboot”.

Aida began publishing the manga in the magazine Monthly G Fantasy from the publisher Square Enix in June 2014. The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios Lercheunder the direction of Masaomi Andou and scripts written by Yasuhiro Nakanishireleased in January 2020.

According to reviews from connoisseurs of the original franchise, the anime adaptation ended in the middle of chapter 36. However, it is better to start the manga from the beginning, because the anime skips some chapters/panels and changes the order of them.

Sinopsis de Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun

The famous “Seven Wonders” that every school seems to have are a staple of Japanese urban legends. One of the best known is that of Hanako-san: the ghost of a girl who haunts the school bathrooms. Kamome Academy has its own version of the legend of Hanako-san. Rumor has it that if one manages to summon Hanako-san, she will grant her summoner any wish. Drawn by gossip, many have tried to invoke her, but all attempts have failed.

However, when Nene Yashiro, a girl with romantic hopes, dares to summon Hanako-san, she discovers that the rumored “girl” is actually a boy! After a series of unfortunate events related to Nene’s romantic desires, she finds herself unwittingly drawn into the world of the supernatural, becoming Hanako-kun’s assistant. She soon learns of Hanako-kun’s lesser-known duty: maintaining the fragile balance between mortals and apparitions.
