Q: Kārlis,thank you for joining us.Can you tell us how Eklektika came together and what inspired the trio’s formation?
Kārlis: Thank you for having me! Eklektika was born out of a shared love for experimentation and a desire to push musical boundaries.Rūdolfs, Artūrs, and I had all been active in the Latvian music scene, but we were drawn together by our mutual curiosity about blending different genres. We wanted to create something that felt fresh and unpredictable,and that’s how Eklektika came to life.

“It’s all about balance and openness,” explains Kārlis, the band’s percussionist. “Each of us brings our own musical background and influences to the table. Rūdolfs has a deep connection to jazz and improvisation, while Artūrs is fascinated by Eastern scales and minimalist structures.My own background is rooted in percussion traditions from around the world. When we compose, we let these elements naturally intertwine. It’s like building a musical puzzle—each piece has its place, and together, they create a unique sonic landscape.”
