Quite okay

Omar Marmoush: You might almost feel sorry for him in his old place of work, ran a lot, especially the Wolfsburg defense, and threw himself into aerial duels once morest the defending towers, but had hardly any support. Participated in Eintracht’s two best actions: first the backheel assist for Skhiri (21′), then he was denied by the outstanding keeper Casteels (35′).

Kevin Trapp: Saved the first attempts on both goals, each following being overcome by the double wind. There wasn’t much he might do, especially since the score was 2-0 as a result of a penalty. Parried well a few more times.

Robin Koch: Missed the best chance to equalize in the second half when he shot wide of the box from a set piece. As a defensive leader at the top, only once did he and Pacho not close the gap quickly enough – the thing was there, 0-1. But you might hardly blame him.

Total: Still in solid form, it wasn’t his fault that Frankfurt lost their first game of the season.

So-so

Ellyes Skhiri: Shot with his left, his weaker foot, too lax. Could have been tighter (21st). Fighted his way into the game following initial problems.

Hugo Larsson: Was allowed to play 90 minutes once more, the alternatives are rare. All in all, it’s good, but this time it wasn’t as impactful as it was last time.

Willian Pacho: His weakest game in the Eintracht jersey came too often too late in the first half, including before the 0-1 lead, when he mightn’t prevent the shot that was then converted by wind. But he also had little help from Ebimbe, who was defensively lazy. Saw yellow early, inhibited him a bit.

Weakening

Eric Dina Stories: Let Baku escape twice in the first four minutes, and so it continued. After 35 minutes, Wolfsburg had already escaped four times. Bad in the backwards movement, didn’t seem particularly trying. Offensively with a successful dribble in preparation for the Marmoush chance (35th). Definitely not enough.

Ansgar Knauff: Unlucky once more, carelessly caused the penalty before the score was 0-2. Then he just shrugged his shoulders, probably not being able to recognize his own stupidity. Not a candidate for the starting eleven in this form, the 21-year-old seems mentally shaken.

Mario Götze: Earned the second sending off of his career. In 2011, Dortmund received a controversial red card in Leverkusen. Not this time, this yellow-red one, rather inevitably. He is often fouled and receives few free kick whistles, but he should channel his (justified) frustration into other channels. Escapes a lot, complains to the referees, who immediately put him on notice. This time he delayed the game, saw yellow, then once more later for a kick on the ankle. This puts himself out there, his focus seems to have slipped.

Aurelio Buta: A single disappointment, sedate, without any offensive urge, almost lazy. Stood at the back when it was needed at the front. It’s amazing that the right wingman was allowed to walk around on the pitch for an hour.

Fares Chaibi: With a single good pass before Skhiri’s chance (21st), otherwise Frankfurt’s trotter of the day. He didn’t manage to change his slow pace – at most he became a standing footballer. Negative highlight: A rabona, a pass behind the main leg, into no man’s land.
