Eintracht Frankfurt beat SC Freiburg on the 34th and final day of the Bundesliga match and has qualified for the European Cup.

Update from Saturday, May 27, 6:08 p.m.: With a 2-1 win once morest SC Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt has reached seventh place in the Bundesliga table and is therefore sure of participation in the European Cup even before the cup final once morest RB Leipzig. Should the SGE win the final once morest Leipzig, they would play in the Europa League, if they lost in the Conference League.

first report: Frankfurt – The last match day of the Bundesliga season 2022/23 is coming up and Eintracht Frankfurt welcomes SC Freiburg. After a weak second half of the season, in which things were often restless off the pitch, the SBU will be happy that the season is coming to an end. A week later, another real highlight awaits the Eagles, as they face RB Leipzig in the final of the DFB Cup.

Eintracht Frankfurt meets SC Freiburg

Eintracht still has the chance to qualify for the European Cup in the Bundesliga, but it’s no longer in their own hands. Only if VfL Wolfsburg, who meets Hertha BSC in their home game, lose, might the SBU win the ticket to the Conference League by beating Breisgauer. On the other hand, if Oliver Glasner’s team manages to win the cup final, they would be guaranteed a place in the Europa League.

The game once morest Leipzig is therefore much more important for the club, but Glasner expects his team to be focused once morest Freiburg as well. “I don’t have the impression that anyone is going easy on themselves for Berlin. It’s regarding qualifying for the final, in which they show a top performance on Saturday,” said the coach at the press conference before the game.

“For Freiburg it’s all regarding the Champions League and we want to take the chance, albeit small, to climb up the table. In 2023 we are unbeaten in the league and cup at Deutsche Bank Park. A home win at the end is our goal,” continued Glasner, who is satisfied with his players’ commitment to training this week: “I’m very satisfied with the training week. The boys are highly motivated, very committed and have a good mix of seriousness and fun. These are very good prerequisites.”

Eintracht Frankfurt: Rode questionable once morest Freiburg

It is unclear which line-up Glasner will choose for the game once morest Freiburg. “Rode’s use is questionable following a blow to the ankle. Fortunately, Max and Jakic started training. But: It’s not a friendly once morest Freiburg, we’ll play with the best team,” promised Glasner, who doesn’t see Lindström in the starting XI yet: “Jesper Lindström was more agile in training this week. The pain has lessened, which is important in order to have a clear head. A good step in the right direction. He’ll get minutes. I don’t know how many yet.”

The starting eleven once morest Freiburg will obviously not be an indication of those in the cup final. “The line-up once morest Freiburg doesn’t say anything regarding who will start in the final,” assured Glasner, giving a little insight into his thoughts: “Unfortunately, Almamy Toure was injured very often. He will always be the player who held his bones for 120 minutes in Seville in 40 degrees. Now he’s fit once more. It’s possible that he’ll contest a final for Eintracht once more.” (smr)
