The pitch
Winners of the UEFA Cup in 1980, Frankfurt and their passionate supporters clinched their ticket to the last four with a stunning 3-2 victory at Camp Nou to eliminate Barcelona before defeating West Ham. A meeting with Rangers will remind them of another famous European occasion: they scored six goals in both games as they knocked out Gers in the semi-finals before losing the Champions League final. Champions Cup 1960 7-3 once morest Real Madrid.
Rangers have undoubtedly recovered from that loss all this time. The Glasgow side’s greatest continental achievement to date was winning the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1972: their only success in four major UEFA competition finals before 2022. Their last defeat in the final dates back to the 2007/08 UEFA Cup once morest Zenit, but Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side will be determined to seize the opportunity to lift their first European trophy in 50 years.

Statements from the coaches
Oliver Glasner, Frankfurt
Slowly, something special is taking place. What the team did [en demi-finale] was unbelievable. We said to the players: “I don’t know if you are the best players or if we are the best coaches. But we are exceptional as a group and together we can be the best. It’s the best thing when you can make so many people happy. For us, everything revolves around this final. »
Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Rangers
I am very proud of our achievement. Few players can play in European finals. It’s not easy for everyone. Once you’re there, you have to do everything to win. This is remarkable.
