This event, which showcases dynamic light displays, extends its reach beyond Eindhoven, inviting visitors from the neighboring municipalities to partake in the artistic spectacle.
As the various light artworks premiere for the first time on Saturday evening at 6:30 PM, crowds of eager spectators flood the streets of Eindhoven. They embark on a scenic walking route that spans approximately five kilometers, taking in all the enchanting light shows along the way. A mother and her son gaze upward, their heads tilted back in awe as beams of radiant light pierce the night sky, emanating from the imposing Kennedy Tower. Largest light artwork ever
Metropolis stands out as the largest light installation ever featured at Glow Eindhoven, stretching an impressive five hundred meters and captivating passersby throughout much of the route. The area surrounding the NS station is poised for a remarkable transformation, as what is currently known as Knoop XL transitions from a predominantly office-driven district to a vibrant residential neighborhood poised to accommodate around sixteen thousand new inhabitants. The visionary Eindhoven light artist, Michel Suk, aims to encapsulate this evolution, depicting how Eindhoven is evolving into a globally recognized metropolis.
A little further along the route, Vince Willemse gazes in wonder at a colossal mirror ball suspended high above, illuminated by powerful searchlights that cast thick beams of light upon its surface. “My grandfather, Frans de Brouwer, helped build Glow,” recounts Vince proudly. “It fills me with pride to see how many people come to enjoy the festivities now.” On this bustling opening night, crowds have gathered in droves, especially in the narrow streets around the Bergen area and at the stunning light projections cast upon the Hooghuis. One spectator remarks in exasperation, “It’s far too busy to allow cars to drive through.”

Joost and his eight-year-old son, Noud, who have traveled from Helvoirt, are visiting for the first time. “I think it is very beautiful, and I am impressed by everything we see. There is so much variety in all those different light shows,” he shares enthusiastically. Loïs, accompanied by her parents from Den Bosch, exclaims, “I liked the car lights the most.” Her father Kevin adds, “It was really fascinating to see a film about nature projected onto a car.” Mother Sanne notes that it was “super busy,” yet they were relieved that the delightful weather allowed them to enjoy the experience despite some crowded areas along the route.
