Eid-ul-Adha: Action against those who roast Sri Pai in public places in Lahore

Lahore According to Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider Eid-ul-Adha During the three days of 2018, action was taken against people roasting Sri Pai in public places in the city and more than 200 points where Sri Pai was being roasted were eliminated.

The Punjab Home Department had issued a notification on June 12 in which restrictions were mentioned regarding the destruction of sacrificial animal carcasses across the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. “The ban on roasting Sri Pai in public places will remain till June 23 and legal action will be taken against whoever is found involved in this process.”

This is the reason why the authorities took immediate action on the complaints received on social media regarding the roasting of Sri Pai in public places.

Why was the ban imposed?

In this regard, Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari said during a press conference on Wednesday that the ban on roasting Sri Pai was not imposed for the first time, but this ban has been imposed on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

He said, ‘Eating Sri Pai can cause gastro. The PML-N government is an environment-friendly government, so this ban was implemented to prevent pollution of the environment.’

Baldia Uzma Lahore Spokesperson Syed Umeer Hassan told Independent Urdu that the Punjab Interior Department had imposed this ban and our job was to ensure its implementation, which we did.

Umeer Hasan further said that there are five reasons for banning the roasting of saripaya in places during the days of Eid-ul-Adha.

. The first and major reason is that Sri Pai roasters use LPG cylinders, which have high chances of bursting and can cause a major accident.

. Another reason is that the process of roasting saripaya increases the environmental pollution. At the same time, the surrounding residents are affected by the smell.

. The third reason is that the saripi fried on the LPG cylinder is injurious to health and causes various stomach ailments.

. The fourth reason is that saripai roasters cause encroachment as they sit anywhere and start their business, causing hardship to commuters and local residents.

. The fifth reason is that the Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 across the province, which prohibits roasting of Sri Pai on roads.
