Ehpad, retirement home: how much does a place cost in establishments near you?

A map to find out how much a place in an Ehpad costs in France. The UFC que Choisir put a comparator online on Monday, May 16, which provides easy access to information on accommodation establishments for dependent elderly people or retirement homes.

In France, the scandal of Ehpad of the Orpea or Korian group recently revealed the treatment conditions of some residents. In addition to mistreatment, the gap between the quality of reception and the exorbitant prices charged by certain establishments is also pointed out.

It is on this point that the association UFC Que Choisir has focused in a vast compilation of data on these establishments. The UFC evokes a “new scandal linked to nursing homes: the territorial divide“. In question, very variable prices and very disparate numbers of places, which can “vary from simple to quadruple according to the departments“.

Disparities

Thus, while we see on the map proposed in the tweet above that establishments in Hérault and Gard, for example, offer rooms on average for a price of between 2,000 and 2,500 euros per month, it is possible to check in detail the disparities in tariffs even within the departments.

For the Gard for example, in the center of Nîmes, the monthly rate can rise to more than 3,000 €, while further north of the department, in Vigan for example, it is below the 2,000 euro mark. Rates, to which it will often be necessary to add supplements to have services such as internet access or a television in the room, for example.
