Egypt’s Role in Gaza Crisis: Weapons Transfer and International Pressure on Israel

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zaid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that there is no comment on Israeli statements from some people regarding the entry of weapons into the Gaza Strip from Sinai, as long as they were not issued by an official source.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid confirmed that there are ongoing contacts between Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Josep Borrell, European Foreign Policy Coordinator, to follow up on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Egypt passes weapons to Gaza via Sinai

He added in television statements that the Foreign Minister is coordinating with Josep Borrell regarding the Israeli aggression once morest Gaza, pointing out that Borrell is interested in what is happening between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid also said that American messages to Israel are confused and do not protect civilians in the Gaza Strip, and countries must take action and send messages to pressure Israel to respect international and humanitarian law.

He added that countries must assume their responsibilities as a result of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, pointing out that the foreign ministers of Egypt and Iran are coordinating in order to control the Gaza crisis.

He explained that the peace summit and the emergency Arab summit will be held within days, and the main and primary file is on the Gaza Strip, and Israel is obstructing the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip.

He pointed out that Egypt bore its responsibility from day one to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and remove foreign nationals from the Strip, pointing out that the Middle East region cannot bear more instability.
