Egypt’s Minister of Health directs to study the establishment of an integrated center for psychological treatment for the unable

The Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, directed the preparation of an integrated study to establish an integrated center for psychological treatment and addiction treatment, to become a basic focal point for the treatment of those who are unable, in accordance with the ministry’s strategy to improve the public health of citizens.

This came during his weekly meeting, with the ministry’s leaders and heads of agencies, and with the participation of all the ministry’s undersecretaries in the governorates via video conference technology, to follow up the progress of work in the various files of the ministry, and to identify challenges and obstacles to overcome them, to ensure the continuation of providing the best medical services to patients.

During the meeting, the Minister was briefed on the work plan for the Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment for the year 2023, which includes the levels and types of services developed in all services provided by the Secretariat (community services, remote services, health programs and initiatives), in addition to the construction and development plan. Stressing that the plan is consistent with international standards and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The official spokesman for the ministry, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, stated that the minister was keen, during the meeting, to review the secretariat’s plan for establishing centers of excellence for the treatment of autism spectrum, as it is scheduled to establish 20 centers in the governorates of the republic within 5 years, directing the speedy completion of the establishment and opening of these centers, pointing out To provide training for service providers on detecting and treating the autism spectrum.
