The two students, Omar Muhammad Saad and Rodina Faisal Al-Shennawi, were able to achieve first place in the international robot manufacturing competition, which was held in Romania.

The two Egyptian students, who are studying in the fifth grade of primary school, achieved this advanced position after fierce competition with more than 300 teams worldwide.

Behind the scenes of victory

The Egyptian student tells the scenes of winning the international competition for robot manufacturing, saying: “We competed with very strong groups from different countries, some of which consisted of 7 individuals, and this is certainly a large number that gives them a percentage of the advantage.”

Omar continued, in his interview with “Sky News Arabia”: “Rodina and I were at the top of our focus to achieve an advanced position in the competition, where we have a robot in front of us, but all its orders are wrong and the operating numbers that it works with are not as it should, and within a few seconds we have to adjust that programming.” In order for it to work without errors, the most important thing is to know the error and quickly fix it in a very short time.

Omar loved software from a young age, researched and learned a lot: “I used to sit for hours in front of educational devices and programs and read vigorously in order to learn, until I entered a number of schools and academies so that I could enter an advanced stage and learn the secrets of the programming world.”

The two Egyptian students achieved 4 successful attempts in the competition, three of which were one second before the end of the set time, and the fourth was with the exact moment of announcing the expiration of the time, which is 20 seconds.

Distinguished since childhood

Dr. Rasha Abdullah Saudi, Omar’s mother, says that her son loved learning from a young age, from the first months, and he paid attention to everything that was unique: “We are in a village and to give children courses (additional lessons) is not easy because it is expensive and not available. However, we did our impossible to give him courses to develop skills, mental calculations, and then go deeper and deeper.”

And Saudi continued in her interview with “Sky News Arabia”: “Years ago, Omar began reading in physics, astronomy and engineering, until he began to learn in the field of robotics and programming through courses and reading, and everyone who dealt with him believes that he is distinguished in this field, so there was Insisting on traveling to the competition, even if its financial cost is great for us.

The father of the Egyptian student, who won first place in the international robot manufacturing competition, confirmed:

  • The captain supervising his training sent me a video of the moment of victory. I prostrated to God thank you, and his father kept jumping for joy.
  • Omar and Rodina are very distinguished, and we had great confidence in raising the name of Egypt high.
  • Omar won second place in the Arab world in one of the major astronomy competitions.
  • There was a big difference in the final result, as the second-placed team completed the required time in 24 seconds, and the remaining places exceeded 30 seconds.
  • Omar hopes to implement a robot that senses the living under the rubble, equipped with a camera and a thermal sensor to identify the living from the dead, so it gives a signal that someone is alive, and then creates a protection shield around the head so that the responsible teams can rescue him.
  • We have hope to travel to China for the next competition because it is one of the major international competitions, but we hope that there will be sponsors and support from the concerned authorities.

Confidence in achieving the championship

Rodina El-Shennawy says that the beginning of her love for the world of artificial intelligence and programming began years ago, through reading, but the defining stage was about a year ago when she started learning and actual study, which greatly developed her capabilities and capabilities.

And Rodina continued in her interview with “Sky News Arabia”: “I am very happy to win the first place in the global competition, and to raise the head of my family and coaches high, so I had confidence in achieving an advanced position by traveling.”

The 12-year-old loves astronomy and engineering very much and hopes to learn a lot about them during the coming period, noting that she was able, with Omar, to implement the requirements in the competition in a record time less than the rate set for the competition, which impressed everyone.

Professional start

At the same time, Faisal Muhammad, Rodina’s father, confirms that his daughter learned the field of robotics and artificial intelligence professionally about a year ago, and all her information before that was through reading, reading, and passion for this world.

“We wanted her to implement the thing she loves, and support and push her towards it, until she entered a major competition at the level of the Republic and learned through it and won an advanced position, but it was not the first place, which caused her some frustration,” according to Faisal’s statement.

And Rodina’s father continued, in his speech to “Sky News Arabia”: “We helped her to get out of the state of distress and learn and realize her mistakes, which appeared in that international competition, which showed the amount of her focus and seriousness, as we were following her daily from the captain in charge of her, who was always praising her what you offer.”

And the father of the student, who won first place in the international robot manufacturing competition, continued:

  • The team initially consisted of five people, but only she and Omar traveled.
  • We stood beside her to travel at this early age in order to develop her experiences and abilities, and to create a different and unique experience.
  • The winning moment was perfect, we felt we were on the right track.
  • We strongly support and encourage it, and we will stand by it financially and morally for any competition that we consider appropriate.
