The delegation includes the heads of 13 major Egyptian companies specialized in implementing infrastructure, road, bridge and development projects, in addition to the heads of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges and the Land Transport Regulatory Authority. It is headed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir. They were received by Razzaq Mohibs El-Saadawi, Iraqi Minister of Transport, and Ambassador Ahmed Samir, Egyptian Ambassador to Iraq.
During his visit to Baghdad, the Minister is scheduled to meet with Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, the Iraqi Minister of Transport, Benkin Rikani, the Iraqi Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, and Khaled Battal, the Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals, in addition to meeting the Chairman of the Iraqi Investment Commission.
The Minister and the Egyptian delegation will discuss strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transportation and industry, in addition to discussing the participation of Egyptian companies specialized in infrastructure, roads, bridges and development projects in various projects in the brotherly state of Iraq.
Several Egyptian companies operate in the Iraqi market in various fields, and the two countries are linked by several cooperation agreements, the latest of which was signed last year during the visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to Cairo and his meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Iraqi Communications and Media Commission, Eng. Bassam Salem Hussein, said last May that there is a large presence of Egyptian companies in the Iraqi communications and information technology sector, explaining that there are Egyptian companies operating in Iraq with very high investments, especially in the communications sector and others.
He stated that Egyptian companies have implemented giant projects in various Iraqi governorates and achieved impressive successes in many sectors, and are working continuously with facilities through many agreements signed between Cairo and Baghdad.
He pointed out that there are large investments in the transportation and construction sector by Egyptian and Iraqi companies, such as the implementation of bridges and roads in record time and with international quality, noting that there is an important bridge in Baghdad that was implemented by an Egyptian company in less than 90 days, which contributed to ending traffic congestion in the capital.
He also noted that Egyptian companies are building residential cities through Egyptian investors in the construction and building sector, as part of the Iraqi government’s aspiration for more investment cooperation with Egypt.
