The Emirates News Agency reported that the talks included an agreement on new projects with capacities of up to 2,500 megawatts of renewable energy from solar and wind, in addition to the company’s projects currently being implemented with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts.
The Egyptian Minister stressed that the Egyptian state’s strategy aims to increase the contribution of renewable energy to the electricity mix, and to focus on diversifying sources of electricity production and benefiting from Egypt’s natural resources, especially new and renewable energy sources, which aim to increase the contribution of renewable energy to the energy mix in Egypt to more than 42% by 2030.
The Egyptian Minister of Electricity said that the next phase will witness an expansion in the establishment of solar and wind power plants and reliance on the private sector.
Al Nowais pointed to the existing cooperation between the Egyptian electricity and renewable energy sector and the company in a number of projects, including the 500-megawatt Abidos solar power plant in Aswan, scheduled to be completed in September of this year, the 500-megawatt Amotope wind power plant in Ras Ghareb, scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2025, and the AL.KIMYIA green hydrogen project with a capacity of 2,500 megawatts of renewable energy.
