Substitute Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” scored a goal and made another to lead Egypt to the African Nations Cup finals next year, at the top of Group D of the qualifiers, following winning 2-1 over Guinea in the fifth round in Marrakesh today, Wednesday.
The 3023 African Cup of Nations will be held early next year in Ivory Coast.
The balance of the Egyptian national team, which achieved its fourth victory in the group and the third in a row, rose to 12 points, to sit at the top alone and officially ascend for the 26th time to the finals of the tournament, which holds the record for the number of times won with 7 titles.
Egypt is 3 points ahead of second-placed Guinea, while Malawi and Ethiopia are equal with three points each before their confrontation next Tuesday in the penultimate round of the group.
The Guinean national team scored through Serho Gerasi in the 26th minute, before Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet equalized in the 42nd minute, made by Mohamed Salah, the English star of Liverpool.

Egypt, the continent’s champion 7 times in a record, appeared modestly in the first 25 minutes until goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy scored.
Guinea, who played the match in Morocco instead of playing at home because their stadiums did not meet the standards of the African Union (CAF), took possession of the ball and was the better party.
The Portuguese coach, Roy Vittoria, made an emergency change 10 minutes following the start, when he pushed Trezeguet following Omar Marmoush was injured.
Captain Mohamed Salah missed Egypt’s first opportunity in the 28th minute following a wrong pass from the Guinean goalkeeper in front of his own goal, but Liverpool’s top scorer hit the crossbar.
Egypt’s performance improved following half an hour of the match, dominating the midfield, and Salah almost added the second goal in the 45th minute, following receiving a perfect cross pass from Mohamed Hamdi from the left, but hit the ball over the crossbar once more.
Naby Keita, Salah’s former colleague in Liverpool, fired a powerful shot in the 49th minute, which was saved by El-Shennawy twice.
Elash Moriba sent two shots in the 51st and 53rd minutes from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball went far from Al-Shennawy’s goal.
The striker, Francois Camano, received a cross pass inside the Egyptian penalty area, but he hit the body of defender Mohamed Hani, and the ball went out to a corner.
In the 70th minute, Salah set out from the right and passed the ball to Trezeguet, who shot hard, but goalkeeper Ibrahima Kone turned it into a corner.
This is the second consecutive victory for the Egyptian national team over its Guinean counterpart, following the “Pharaohs” team had previously won 1-0 over the “National Elephants” team in the opening of the group matches in June of last year.
