Egypt received the first Airbus A321 NEO

Lieutenant General Mohamed Abbas Helmy, Minister of Civil Aviation, revealed the details of Egypt receiving its first Airbus A321 NEO aircraft, which arrived at Cairo International Airport, coming from Hamburg Airport, Germany; To be the first airline in Africa to include this model in its fleet.

Abbas said, in a telephone interview, on the program “Happening in Egypt”, broadcast on MBC Egypt, today, Thursday, that this is the first plane of the group of 8 aircraft that were contracted with them, which numbered 8 Airbus planes, pointing out that One plane has been received and the rest of the planes will be received in the coming period, all of the same category.

He explained that this type of aircraft is distinguished in consuming small amounts of fuel by 15% compared to its counterparts, and it flies up to 7,500 kilos, and the seating capacity is 180, 16 business class and 160 economical chairs.

He added, saying: “We are developing the EgyptAir fleet by increasing seats and using distinguished aircraft, in terms of fuel consumption, and whenever we increase the number of seats, we will have the ability to transport tourists and travelers to Egypt and provide more income.”

And he continued: “The tourism movement in Luxor and Aswan is distinct, and from next month there will be direct flights from Spain to Abu Simbel. Now the number of planes that took off and landed at the airport increased by 23% from the plan that was drawn up in 2019, the number of passengers reached 20 million.” Passengers in 2022, and this is the first time Cairo Airport has been delivered to it, and the airport is capable of accommodating up to 27 million passengers annually.
