Egypt.. Mahmoud Al-Khatib imposes sanctions on Al-Ahly players

Zamalek Club won the African Super Cup by defeating Al-Ahly on penalties (4-3), after a 1-1 draw in the final that took place at the Kingdom Arena in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

A source inside Al-Ahly said in exclusive statements to the “Erm News” website yesterday, Saturday: “The president of Al-Ahly club decided to deduct 200 thousand pounds from each player following the defeat against Zamalek.”

He added: “Al-Khatib was in a state of great anger following the defeat, and criticized the team’s performance and the technical leadership of Marcel Kohler, the team’s technical director.”

The source continued: “Al-Khatib informed Sami Qamsar, the general coach and acting director of football, to submit a full report on the disciplinary status of the players.”

He concluded: “The president of Al-Ahly Club threatened those who were negligent with exclusion and financial fines in the coming period.”

Local reports indicated that Mahmoud Al-Khatib contacted the technical staff of Al-Ahly club, led by Marcel Kohler, to find out the reasons for the defeat in the African Super Cup against Zamalek.

Al-Khatib asked Sami Qamis, acting director of football, for a detailed report on the reasons for the defeat against Zamalek in the African Super Cup.

Swiss Marcel Kohler gave Al-Ahly players a passive rest for a week, and he will return to training next Saturday in preparation for the Egyptian Super Champions League in the Emirates.

Al-Ahly is awaiting the official announcement of the date of the Egyptian Super Championship, as reports indicated that it will be held in the Emirates during the period from 20 to 24 next October, after the start of the group stage of the African Champions League was postponed from 25 October to 26 November.
