Egypt: Israel’s rejection of peace will drag the entire region into unprecedented threats

Gambia – Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry warned yesterday, Saturday, that “the Israeli behavior that rejects peace will drag the entire region into unprecedented threats.”

This came in Egypt’s statement, which Shoukry delivered, on behalf of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, before the 15th session of the summit held by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the Gambian capital, Banjul, according to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Shukri called for the implementation of Security Council and United Nations General Assembly resolutions related to an immediate ceasefire and the flow of aid to Gaza.

He said that his country “strongly warns once morest Israel’s invasion of Palestinian Rafah, the last shelter for approximately one and a half million displaced Palestinians.”

The Egyptian Foreign Minister called for “a decisive stance once morest the illusions of liquidating the Palestinian cause through the forced displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza.”

He stressed that “there is no alternative to establishing an independent Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, to ensure the stability of the Middle East.”

Shukri said: “Perhaps the expansion of the current conflict in the Red Sea and the region is the best indication that the Israeli behavior that rejects peace will drag the entire region into unprecedented threats.”

Earlier Saturday, the fifteenth summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation began in the Gambian capital, Banjul.

World leaders are expected to attend from the 57 member states of the Islamic Cooperation Council and from outside it over the course of two days, according to a statement by the organization.
