Egypt – Egypt plans to establish 7 huge integrated logistical corridors that are being implemented to connect production areas (industrial – agricultural – mining) with sea ports.
The corridors will also link seaports on the Red Sea with seaports on the Mediterranean, and serve new urban communities via a network of railways or main paved roads passing through dry ports and logistics areas located on these corridors.
Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir confirmed in press statements that these important corridors will be established in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to transform Egypt into a regional center for transport, logistics and transit trade, and to develop the transport system nationwide within the framework of the state’s 2030 sustainable development plan.
The minister explained that these integrated logistical corridors are represented by the Sokhna-Alexandria logistical corridor, which extends from the port of Sokhna on the Red Sea, passing through the 10th of Ramadan dry port and the logistics area, and linking it to the railway network through the Rubiki-10th of Ramadan-Belbeis line, with a length of 63.5 km, and the industrial zone. On the 10th of Ramadan, passing through Cairo, the largest urban center in the Middle East, then through the 6th of October Industrial City, the dry port, and the logistics area, reaching the large port of Alexandria, and the Al-Arish-Taba logistical corridor, which starts from the port of Al-Arish on the Mediterranean Sea to the port of Taba on the Gulf of Aqaba, passing through the heavy industry areas. In central Sinai, this corridor serves the logistics areas being established in the Sinai Peninsula (Al-Tur – Rafah – Al-Auja – Al-Hasana – Al-Naqab – Taba – Ras Sidr – Bir al-Abd).
He continued: “And the Cairo-Alexandria logistical corridor, which starts from the Upper Egypt railway station in the Bashteel area, passing through the Sadat Dry Port and the 6th of October Dry Port and linking them to the railway network on the Bashteel – Al Ittihad – Itay El Baroud – Al Qabbari line through the Kafr Daoud – Sadat two links along 36 km, and Al-Manashy – October 6, with a length of 68 km, until the Great Port of Alexandria, and the Tanta – Mansoura – Damietta logistical corridor, which starts from the Tanta logistics zone in the heart of the Delta, which serves the agricultural production areas in the middle of the Delta and the industrial areas in (Quesna – Tanta – Kafr El-Zayat). Al-Mahalla – Mansoura) and linking it to the port of Damietta by a railway line (Tanta / Mansoura / Damietta) passing through the dry port in the new city of Damietta.
He revealed the establishment of the Jarjoub-Salloum logistical corridor, which starts from the sea port of Jarjoub on the Mediterranean Sea and reaches the land port of Salloum, which is considered the largest land port in Egypt. Through it, trade exchange between Egypt and Libya will be increased, passing through the logistics area east of Salloum, and a railway link between them. Jargoub / Salloum, with a length of 223 km, and the Cairo – Aswan – Abu Simbel logistical corridor, which includes the second line of the high-speed electric train network and the Western Upper Egypt Desert Road, passing through dry land ports and logistical areas (New Fayoum – Kom Abu Radi – New Sohag – Abu Simbel) and reclamation areas. Agricultural areas in Toshka, East Al-Owainat, and the Abu Simbel tourist area.
Finally, the Safaga – Qena – Abu Tartur logistical corridor, which starts from the port of Safaga on the Red Sea and the logistics area in Safaga, passing through the third line of the high-speed electric train and the diesel railway line (Safaga – Qena – Abu Tartur).
