Al-Sisi met with the Prime Minister and the Ministers of Electricity and Petroleum today, and was briefed on the government’s action plan to ensure the electricity sector’s needs for petroleum products are met, and the regular pumping of gas supplies to the national electricity grid, in order to achieve sustainability and stability of the electrical supply nationwide and reduce losses.
The meeting included following up on a number of ongoing projects, most notably the developments in the executive position of the Dabaa nuclear station, in light of the project’s utmost importance to the comprehensive development process in Egypt, especially with the state adopting an integrated and sustainable energy strategy aimed at diversifying its sources of renewable and new energy, in a way that contributes to improving Quality of services provided to citizens.
The Egyptian President also directed a careful follow-up of all details of the electricity interconnection project with Saudi Arabia, as it is a model for integrating cooperation in the field of energy at the regional level and between Egypt and the Kingdom in particular, and is considered a model to be emulated in the implementation of similar electrical interconnection projects in the future.

A few days ago, the installation of the reactor core trap for the fourth nuclear unit at the Dabaa Nuclear Station began, which is an advanced step towards the completion of the first nuclear power station on Egyptian territory, according to a statement by the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, last Tuesday.
The reactor core trap is an advanced technical component designed to improve nuclear safety in emergency situations, ensuring that radioactive materials are contained and prevented from spreading outside the reactor.
Last week, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed the government’s commitment to cooperate with the Russian side to complete the first phase of the Dabaa nuclear project, according to the project’s specific timetable, noting that it is a strategic and pivotal goal for the state.
Madbouly said that there are directives from President Sisi that the first phase of the Dabaa nuclear power plant project must be implemented without any delay.
Last Wednesday, Madbouly received the Executive Director of the Russian State Nuclear Energy Authority (Rosatom), Alexei Likhanchov, and reviewed with him the executive position of the project and the rates of completion and implementation of work within the framework of the specified time plan, at all engineering, technical and administrative levels.
