Egypt clarifies its position on the Saudi-Iranian agreement

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – On Friday, the Egyptian authorities clarified their position on announcing the agreement to resume diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

This came in a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, in which it was stated: “Egypt is following with interest the agreement to resume diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and looks forward to it contributing to easing tensions in the region.”

And she continued: “The Arab Republic of Egypt announced, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, Friday, March 10, that it is following with interest the agreement that was announced to resume diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

According to the statement, Egypt expressed “its aspiration for the agreement to contribute to easing tension in the region, to strengthening the pillars of stability and preserving the capabilities of Arab national security, and the aspirations of the peoples of the region for prosperity, development and stability.”
